I watch the IV placement video several times before and after my practice patients. This is nice because I can watch it later on my phone, too. In fact, I didn’t have time to watch it enough, so I was able to bookmark it in my favorites for later.
I also find a category on specimen collection and transport in the Lab parent category from the home screen, or perhaps I find it by searching the term “blood” in the search bar.
I bookmarked the blood collection guidelines and tube draw order tables because I know I will use those daily and forget what color to draw last. I also had a patient yesterday that needed a serum acetone and I learned it must be placed on ice for my facility.
During my search, I also saw a topic for Pediatric Blood Collection (inadvertently) which makes me crazy nervous because I know that working in the ER means I will have to draw kids, so I bookmarked that for later review. I won’t be allowed to draw kids for a while, but it's still on my mind.
Have Confidence with Verified, Evidence-Based Information
It's hard to access work resources at home (if I can access them at all) and my unit doesn't have internet privileges, which means Doctor Google is unavailable.
Even if Google were a reliable resource, evidence-based nursing information takes time to find and verify, and especially to cross-reference with other resources on the same subject. myNursingMastery is on my phone, so I can use it as long as the battery will last, and I can carry it with me, so the convenience is huge.
